Covid crisis? Not an excuse for Kevin van Hasselt to not obtain his full B1.1 Part 147 at AM&TS this school year. In addition to his MBO 4 diploma. This top student is ready for his career in aviation and will now focus on finding an employer. Congratulations Kevin!
TUI Engineering & Maintenance has given our third-year students guest lectures. The students learned a lot about the difference between Line and Base Maintenance, the daily work as a mechanic, the route to become a GWK and Tui as an internship company and employer.
Thank you Nico Haasnoot and Sander Diederik from TUI E&M for the clear presentations and the positive “TUI enthusiasm” with which you always manage to involve our students in sometimes complex subjects.
At the beginning of November, the company Mainblades gave guest lectures to our third-year students. In the guest lecture, the students were introduced to innovative techniques for inspecting aircraft for damage using drones. These techniques make use of robotics, digitization and Artificial Intelligence and make it possible for technicians to collect, report and share data with others in real-time.
Thanks to Jochem Verboom and Patrick Morcus from Mainblades for the clear demonstration and the enthusiasm with which you introduced our students to this innovative product.

Maandag 11 november zijn op een feestelijke bijeenkomst Cat. B1/B2 Basic Training-certificaten uitgereikt aan ruim tien vliegtuigmonteurs van KLM Airframe. Zij kunnen daarmee na een typetraining de bevoegdheid verwerven om onderhoudswerkzaamheden af te tekenen. Het is voor het eerst in tien jaar dat een dergelijke opleiding binnen KLM E&M heeft plaatsgevonden.
KLM werkt hiermee aan de beschikbaarheid en bredere inzetbaarheid van goed opgeleid personeel. Altijd belangrijk, maar momenteel van extra belang vanwege de pensioengolf die het bedrijf te wachten staat.
Doorstromen
EASA-wetgeving stelt eisen aan vliegtuigtechnici , onderverdeeld in categorieën. Een vliegtuigmonteur is Cat. A, een mechanisch specialist is Cat. B1 en een avionisch specialist is Cat. B2. Deze laatste twee vormen een tussenstap om, in combinatie met voldoende praktijkervaring, eventueel door te stromen naar de volledige GWK-functie.
